Kate Berten

Kate Berten started with a BFA in Communications Design from Syracuse University. From Syracuse she moved to Seattle to enjoy the outdoors and work in graphic design. As a graphic designer she loved exploring new topics and communicating what she learned to others. Eventually this love of learning led her to get a Masters in Education at the University of Portland. Since becoming a teacher she has taught fifth and sixth grade in Seattle. She has a strong passion for math and social studies. Kate has worked as a Staff Development Specialist helping teachers collaborate and grow as professionals, and she is always seeking out new learning opportunities as a teacher and person. She is National Board Certified and an avid traveler. She looks forward to the interdisciplinary focus at The School and the opportunities of New York City.
