Miki Jensen

Miki is a 5th-grade teacher at The School at Columbia University. She came to The School in 2020 after teaching in a variety of school settings in New York and New Jersey. Miki holds a Masters Degree in Early Adolescent Education from Bank Street College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University where she double majored in Education and African Studies. Miki often likens the learning process to running, especially long distances. It requires extensive training and hard work, and there'll be setbacks for sure. You'll need other runners to help you along the way, and you'll learn to be resilient together. And sometimes, when race day finally arrives, it may not go exactly as you'd hoped. Still, you'll persevere and cross that finish line where, despite the exhaustion, the feeling of accomplishment will make you want to do it all over again! You'll often find Miki running on the road or on the trails, and when she's not wearing a race day bib, she is spending time in the great outdoors with her husband, three children and dog.
