Anacarla Schelino
Anacarla Schelino has been teaching in elementary schools since 1992 and is permanently certified by the State of New York in grades pre-K thru 5th. She has experience with children in bilingual, charter, and public schools, where in addition to having taught pre-K, 1st and 2nd grade, she taught a 4th to 5th grade multiage class and a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, multiage class. Anacarla comes to The School from the Beginning With Children Charter School in Brooklyn, a pioneer of the charter school movement, where she had the opportunity to write curriculum for 1st and 2nd grade and collaborate with a Pratt University art teacher in creating a curriculum integrating art and social studies for 2nd grade. As team leader, she was also able to spearhead many projects, including the mentoring program. She has trained in the Lucy Calkins Reader's and Writer's Workshop at Teachers College, is a member of The International Reading Association and has facilitated various workshops on integrated curriculum. She has been teaching at The School since 2005 where she has created concept based curriculum integrating literacy for 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade.
