Sheila O' Shea

Sheila O'Shea has studied music education extensively and has specialized in the approach known as Orff Schulwerk. She studied for a year at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria, funded by a scholarship from the Carl Orff Foundation in Germany. Most recently, Sheila taught for 15 years at Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn Heights, where she occupied the Frank L. Babbott Chair for Literature and Arts and specialized in K-4 education. She has also led workshops for adults in music and dance education throughout New York and in Ireland and has taught at the National Orff Conference and George Mason University. Her interest in the natural unity between movement and music led her to study Laban dance education at the 92nd Street Y, as part of the DEL (Dance Education Laboratory) program. Sheila brings her many interests, including her love of archaeology, anthropology, animals, travel, and the visual arts to The School's integrated curriculum.
